Frequently Asked Questions

- How do I know I need therapy?

I believe that therapy can benefit anyone, no matter their circumstances. If you find yourself struggling to deal with your emotions, getting overwhelmed or not understanding your emotions, facing flashbacks, or anxiety, or just need a judgement free space to vent, therapy is for you!

If you’re not sure if you need therapy, you can schedule a 15-minute introduction call to get to know me and I will answer any questions you may have regarding therapy!

- How many sessions will I need?

The therapist will recommend an initial session to assess your concerns and discuss a suitable frequency for ongoing sessions. There is no strict schedule you need to adhere to; you are free to choose a session frequency that aligns with your comfort and preferences.

- Are there trial/ introductory sessions available?

Yes, 15 minutes introductory call is provided. Feel free to ask for an introductory call, keep in mind in introductory calls you will be provided with a brief of what is counselling and how does can it help you, and how the process works.

- How can I reschedule my session?

Our policy regarding cancellations and rescheduling necessitates contacting the therapist via Instagram/WhatsApp with at least 24 hours' notice prior to the scheduled session time. This requirement applies equally to sessions the client misses, classified as no-shows. If a session is rescheduled with less than 24 hours' notice, the session fees paid are forfeited and cannot be refunded or applied toward a future session. This policy is implemented because reallocating the session to another client on short notice is impractical and could inconvenience others who may be seeking an appointment. Failure to provide advance notice of cancellation or attend the scheduled session can result in the wastage of the therapist's time and effort.

- Are sessions available on weekends?

Please communicate your preferences with me when reaching out, and I'll be happy to assist you!

- How soon can I get an appointment?

The therapist will manage her slots, typically getting booked 3-4 days in advance. Upon connecting with the psychologist, you can communicate your preferences for the day and time, and she will assign the best available slot for your appointment.

- What if I can't afford the session fee?

Please contact me to learn more about the available options.

Common Questions Related Therapy

- Do I need to prepare anything for the first session?

You are welcome to prepare some points if you wish, but there is no obligation to do so before the session.

- How to choose between a clinical/ counselling psychologist?

I typically recommend starting with a counseling psychologist if you're new to therapy. If you require specialized assistance, you will be referred to a clinical psychologist.

- Can I get "cured" in one session?

Therapy is a process, and expecting a cure in one session is not realistic. The initial session focuses on building a therapeutic relationship and understanding your main concerns. Just as problems don't manifest overnight and evolve, the healing process also requires time and cannot be completed in a single session. Each individual is unique, and their healing journey will unfold at its own pace.

- Can I call my therapist in case of an emergency?

It's important to note that our therapists are not crisis counselors and cannot communicate with you outside of scheduled sessions. This policy is in place to prevent dependency and to uphold their professional boundaries and timings.

- Do you provide therapy over text/ chat?

I DON'T offer chat-based therapy. Chat therapy is not included in the training of academic psychologists, and effective therapy cannot be adequately conducted through messages or chat. I strongly advise against opting for therapy services via chat, as this method is not scientifically proven for counseling and may not provide the intended benefits.

Do you offer therapy to minors?

There is no age limit for consulting a psychologist. For minors (under 18), I require a consent letter or acknowledgment from an adult regarding the minor's therapy. The consenting adult does not necessarily have to be a parent or guardian but should be someone capable of providing consent and acknowledging the client's participation in therapy. If you are able to provide a consent letter, please let us know, and I will provide the necessary details for inclusion in the letter.

Payment:

- How is Payment done?

Payment is accepted through UPI/GPay. To confirm your slot, payment is required in advance. If payment is not received at least a day in advance, your slot may be allocated to another individual.

- What if I cancel last minute/don't show up?

Refunds are not provided in the case of no-shows and last-minute cancellations. In such instances, a new payment will be required. Our therapist reserves a slot for you, and if a last-minute rescheduling occurs, the slot cannot be allocated to someone else, resulting in wasted time. Rescheduling a day in advance is allowed at no additional cost.
